John Storer House has four allotments where we provide well-being activities for people with learning disabilities, memory loss and mental health issues. We run sessions at the allotments on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Our Activity Workers, Neil and Donna, set the task of making bug hotels. Our participants loved the activity and by working together produced some amazing hotels out of simple household items and natural materials from the allotment.
The bug hotels help attract and provide a safe environment for all sorts of creepy crawlies. They are great for the environment and local ecology as we move ever closer to spring and the warmer weather.
Well-being activities at our allotments have therapeutic benefits for people with disabilities and additional needs. For more information about our well-being activities please contact candi@jscharnwood.org.uk
