Grow Loughborough

What a fine day it was! On Sunday 21st July we opened up our Mountfields allotment site as part of the Grow Loughborough events and the people of Charnwood flocked in to learn more about what we do and to see other community projects in action.

Over 400 people attended, and we nearly ran out of cake, ice cream and plants!

The gamelan was popular, the Crop Club showed how to get started in horticulture, and the Exaireo Trust had a stall of hand-dyed t-shirts, cushions and crafted cards.

Marion showed off her apiarist know-how and Lisa from Little Bird SOS spun yarn on her wheel.

Musical instruments and flowers were crafted from odds and ends and (hopefully) useful advice was dispensed on the plant stall.

We were blessed with fabulous weather and it was so good to see so many children and young people enjoying our new beach garden.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the day; volunteers, staff, stallholders and most of all our lovely visitors whose enthusiasm made the day a joy.

Any profits will go towards supporting the John Storer Charnwood therapeutic allotment service.
