Let’s Talk Money and Wellbeing Event at JSH

On Friday 10th February Charnwood Borough Council hosted a cost of Living event which was held at John Storer House.

The event provided a drop-in service for local people who needed free advice and information on managing money, debt, housing, jobs, skills, training, food banks and Your Store, health and wellbeing and benefit support.

Falcon Housing, Marios Tinenti Centre, Citizens Advice, Active Charnwood, The Bridge East Midlands, Loughborough Wellbeing Centre, Age UK and many other charities attended, providing information and support.

Caroline attends several wellbeing groups at John Storer House. She found it useful to access all the organisations in one place:

“I went to see the Age UK stall to get some advice about my energy bills. A man from Age UK came on Tuesday 14th to my home and spoke to my energy providers – the bills are now manageable and I am so much happier. I was able to pick up some posters to advertise no cold callers – I feel much safer at home. I also found out more about Sense, and now attend seated yoga classes, which has really helped me feel better. Everyone was very supportive of people with hidden disabilities – I was diagnosed with Autism later in life, and found I got the help I needed at this event. It was really great to be able to speak to someone face to face as I cannot use a computer. If people are struggling these are really helpful events.”
