Loughborough Town Walking Group— Going from Strength to Strength

It’s a well known fact that walking is good not just for physical health but for mental health too. Every week a group of walkers sets off from John Storer House for a stress-busting, companionable hour of exercise in the fresh air.

The walk began life as part of the “social prescribing” ethos practised by the Bridge St surgery.

It was eventually decided that another, more central venue was needed from which to run the walk and John Storer House was a natural option.

Hugh Cairns is the walk leader. He completed the leader’s course and where he used to have 2-3 attendees, he now sees 16-20 regularly joining in the walk.

The group is happy to see new walkers. Come and try it! There’s a short form to fill in before you start, but nothing too taxing.

The group meets at John Storer House at 10.30am on Thursdays and the walk lasts for 1 hour-1 hour 15 minutes, that’s 2-3 miles at a reasonable pace.

Afterwards you are free to do your own thing, or come back to JSH for coffee, cake and a chat with the rest of the group. 1919
