Blooming together at John Storer House

Blooming Together Since 1966

John Storer Charnwood has been bringing people together and supporting communities across Charnwood for 60 years. To mark our 60th anniversary in 2026, we’re inviting everyone across the borough to help us create something truly special — a community flower art installation on display at John Storer House, in the heart of Loughborough town centre.

What is Blooming Together Since 1966?

We’re asking people across Charnwood to make and donate a blue flower — in any material, any size, any style — to contribute to a community art installation that will be on display at John Storer House this summer. Every flower represents a member of our community and the collective spirit of kindness that has defined John Storer Charnwood since 1966.

The project is completely free to take part in, open to all ages and abilities, and no experience is needed. If it’s blue and you made it, we want it.

How to Take Part

  • Make one or more blue flowers in any material you have at home
  • Knit it, crochet it, stitch it — or use fabric scraps, denim, wool, ribbon, felt, or anything else
  • Any size, any style — the more variety the better
  • Drop your flower(s) in at reception at John Storer House, Loughborough
  • Deadline: end of July 2026

When you drop off your flowers, you’re welcome to leave your name to be included in a list of contributors displayed alongside the installation. If you’d like us to notify you when the display goes up so you can come and see your flower in place, simply leave your email address with us at reception.

What Happens to the Flowers Afterwards?

After the installation comes down, all donated flowers will be lovingly repurposed — transformed into centrepieces for our lunch clubs and handmade items such as brooches and keyrings to be sold in our community shop. Every penny raised will go towards funding the vital work John Storer Charnwood continues to do for communities across Charnwood.

Every flower is made with love, displayed with pride, and then goes on to do lasting good.Type your paragraph here
