Volunteer Afternoon Tea- Thank you event!

JSC held our annual Summer Volunteer Afternoon on Tuesday 20th June from 4pm- 6pm. Over 70 JSC volunteers enjoyed delicious sandwiches, quiches, pastries and scones with tea, coffee and elderflower cordial in the cafe. There was live music and entertainment, including some of the JSC staff performing a YMCA dance routine.

Karen Frostick, JSC Charity Director, took this opportunity to thank all of our volunteers for their help and hard work. Volunteers are at the heart of our services, without their time, skills, kindness and dedication we would be unable to help support the public and local communities at the house and across Charnwood.

At this event, we awarded Joan Cheetham, Janet Hines, Dave Medlock and Colin Smith with a hanging plant basket and certificate in recognition of their 10 years of voluntary service at JSC. The hanging baskets were made by participants at our allotments in our Well-being groups. These groups provide meaningful activities and support to people with learning disabilities, and those with memory loss/dementia and/or mental health issues.

We have been delighted to receive such positive feedback about the event from our volunteers. “I really enjoyed the afternoon tea today – well done and thank you for the entertainment!” Volunteer, Jane Bevan.

We would like to thank the staff for helping at this event. Anne Bradford and Donna Bailey did us proud with a fantastic spread. Robert Storer provided excellent entertainment and props. We all had lots of fun!

If you would like to help volunteer at John Storer House, please visit our Volunteering page to find out latest Volunteer Opportunities Booklet and complete our Expression of Interest Form. Our Volunteer Coordinator, Harry Ludlam, will then be in touch to discuss this opportunity further and support you with volunteering at JSH.
