VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering at John Storer House

John Storer Charnwood is a volunteer-rich organisation relying heavily on the time, skills, inspiration and commitment of volunteers to support and assist the work of the staff team.

Our volunteers

Volunteers help in all aspects of the organisation’s work including catering, transport, our help desk, well-being and House activities, at our allotments, Your Store (our Social Supermarket), governance, fundraising and administration.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We are an inclusive, safe and friendly place to volunteer.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to build your skills and experience. You can make new friends, gain confidence, have a sense of purpose and feel needed. You can give something back or try something new.

There are many benefits to volunteering with John Storer Charnwood.  We encourage our volunteers to take-up training, with our most popular courses being Emergency First Aid and an Introduction to Safeguarding. The training is free of charge for volunteers. We also hold two volunteer thank you events each year and can provide work or volunteering placement references on request.

On occasion, we can offer short specific volunteer placements (micro-volunteering) for people or groups who wish to help us as part a work volunteer programme and we also welcome work experience placements.
