Well-Being & Memorable Moments (WAMM)

 Well-being & Memorable Moment Sessions are held at John Storer House on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.30pm – 3.00pm. WAMM offers people an opportunity to:

  • Meet with old friends and make new ones in a warm and cosy environment
  • Share stories, memories and experiences with likeminded people
  • Enjoy shared refreshments.
  • Participate in various activities including quizzes, games and seated exercise.
  • Meals and transport can be provided at an additional cost.

All our Well-being activities are supported by dedicated staff, who adapt the sessions to suit individual needs. Our sessions are designed to stimulate the mind, encourage movement and socialisation and always include lots of fun and laughter.

Lunch Clubs at John Storer House

We have three Lunch Clubs at John Storer House each week; on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Meals include tea or coffee, a freshly cooked nutritious main meal and a dessert for the price of £8.50 per person. Lunch is served between 11.45am – 1.00pm and offers people an opportunity to: 

  • Meet with old friends and make new ones in a warm and cosy environment
  • Enjoy a freshly cooked two-course hot meal, in a social environment

Transport could be available if required, depending on your location, please mention your transport requirements (if any) when contacting us.

The Moving Lunch Club

We are currently looking for a volunteer driver to take on our very popular Moving Lunch Club. We will update this space when we are able to restart this service.

Well-being Activities

We offer a range of well-being activities from John Storer House. They are all designed to:

  • Improve mood, increase self-confidence, motivation and to feel better and more relaxed
  • reduce social isolation; people to make friends and value social contact whilst engaging in enjoyable and worthwhile activities
  • learn new skills or develop an interest
  • make people feel valued – what they do makes a difference
  • build resilience and improve everyday functioning
  • reduce stresses and problems and give people an opportunity to share experiences and get support from others or talk about problems, if they want to
  • develop routine and a regular place to go.

How much does it cost?

If you pay for yourself the cost will be £28 (£40 for THYME) for the whole day session.

If you are directly funded for Community Life Choices (CLC) activities all other fees will be paid in line with the CLC Framework from Leicestershire County Council (please speak to your Social Worker).

THYME

Thyme (Therapeutic Horticulture for You and Me) is aimed at people who would like to improve their mental health and well-being by engaging with nature and the great outdoors.

We run Therapeutic Gardening on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.30am – 3.30pm at a cost of £40 per day.

The sessions are planned around the individuals in the group and can offer a range of nature-based activities including horticultural therapy, basic gardening, photography and crafts inspired by nature.

All sessions are held at Mountfields Allotments, Forest Road, Loughborough. Leicestershire.  

John Storer House Activities

Many groups meet at John Storer House during the week and at weekends. They are a mixture of therapies, counselling and social groups. Some activities are led by JSH volunteers, but others are run by external groups who hire rooms from us.  If you would like to know more information on a group, please get in touch with the named contact or email matt@jscharnwood.org.uk.

Well-being Groups

Our well-being groups are open to anyone who has a concern for their Well-being, for example a carer or former carer, someone having a disability or living alone. 

The groups vary in their format but are able to offer friendship and support in a safe environment. These groups are free. If you feel you or someone you know may benefit from this type of group please get in touch with call us on 01509 631750.
